Belongings in Bluff for construction semester
This is the items you need to prepare for coming construction semester in Bluff campus.
Lunch, Groceries and drinks
Lunch box or ziploc bag
We bring our lunch to hike and construction site
Water bottle (thermal)
We bring the bottle to construction site. DBB provide water jar. Please bring more that 1 gallon.
1 gallon water bottle may not be enough especially in summer. Previous students freeze 1 gallon plastic container full of water overnight and bring the ice with lunch box with 40 oz water bottle. The ice is to keep the lunchbox cool. And drink the ice afternoon.
at least 2 ice trays. This will keep your 1 gal water cold in the summer
Coffee ( and coffee filter ) or Tea must be good in winter.
Coffee maker
aeropress is nice brand
Breakfast and Lunch ( better to buy groceries at least for one week at SLC or Moab when you come down to Bluff )
The closest town to buy food is 30 mins away from Bluff (Blanding). We visit the city once for food in weekends. DBB pay for the gas for one DBB car for one round trip to Blanding.
Groceries
Please buy your personal dinner groceries for Saturday and Sunday with your daily breakfast and lunch groceries. Please see Groceries store near bluff. Don't buy the groceries for dinner from Tuesday to Saturday in SLC or Moab. We don't do reimbursement. Accommodation ( DBB provides only mattress and bed frame )
Bed sheet (All bed size in Bluff camus is twin bed)

Hammock (It is very helpful)
Fan
There are several AC in 2F of Scorup house. But it is very hot in afternoon in summer

Long sleeves and long pants are required

When it is snow, many students wear ski/snowboard gear
Waterproof clothes jacket
We keep pounding hammer in rain
Work boots
Steel toe is recommended but not required.
Hard toe shoes is required.
Sneakers are not acceptable.
Wool socks
Steel toe is very cold in winter, wool socks are recommended.
Safety glasses
If you put on glasses in daily life, you have to put on another safety glasses or safety shield over your daily glasses.
Safety shield is helpfut for those who put on glasses in daily life.
Petzl is great but expensive
Ear cover ( in winter )
Gloves
DEX FIT Nitrile Work Gloves FN330, 3D Comfort Stretch Fit is recommended.
Winter work gloves
Ski goggles (highly reccomend for blow-in insulation)
When it is windy, safety glasses is not enough to protect your eye from windy sand.

Snap blade knife for general is very useful and very light to carry
Pencils
Alway more than 3 pencils all the time on you in construction site
Sharpie (at least 2 with you at all times)
Chalk line (black is easier to see on OSB when installing subfloor and walls)
Hammer
For framing is required. 21 oz hammer is not too heavy, not too light for framing.
For finishing work is recommended.
If you join finishing work team like cabinet, table and chair, It is better to have smaller hammer.
Tape measure
36 ft or 24 ft is required. Definitely not smaller than 16 ft.
would recommend the Milwaukee brand because it has the fractions written out instead of just lines
Needle nose Pliers
Tongue-and-groove pliers or Slip joint pliers
Phillips and flat heads driver
Flooring knee pads (highly recommend for flooring team)
Toothbrush for cleaning
2 inches brush for cleaning
2 inches scraper for cleaning

Cordless Impact driver
DBB provides only 5 or 6 total. It is better to bring your own cordless impact driver if you have. With batteries and battery charger.
